The
Circumnavigators Club is the only organization devoted to bringing
together those men and women who have circumnavigated the globe.
It was organized in 1902 when two Americans, Joe D. Morrison
and James H. Birch, sailing across the Indian Ocean aboard the
S.S. Barbarossa, discussed their good fortune to have
gone around the world. They decided that there was need for
a club composed of those adventurous individuals who had actually
experienced the ultimate experience of travel. On their return
to New York, they were joined by world traveler Edward H. Patterson
and the Club was founded. These founders are known as the Club's
"Three Immortals.”

The Club's
purpose is to encourage global fellowship and understanding. It
strives to inspire people to see and absorb as much as they can
about the world in which we live. It is devoted to providing those
who have circumnavigated the globe with a forum for intellectual
exchange. Above all, the Club’s purpose is "Through
Friendship, To Leave This World A Little Better than We Found
It."
The Club,
with Headquarters in New York City, has fourteen Chapters and
members around the world that make traveling Circumnavigators
welcome in their home city. Members are naturally invited to attend
Chapter events worldwide.
